A really good old school local dinner type of breakfast spot. Great service and very affordable. We really enjoyed this place. It reminded me of places I would go to in the 90s.

Betsy's is a breakfast and lunch diner on Canal Street that is open on weekdays only that I first enjoyed years ago and have made it a point to revisit every time I come to NOLA. It is away from the French Quarter so it mostly has a neighborhood clientele, has been in its location for a while, and that is part of its charm. I've eaten mostly breakfasts but had the meatloaf lunch special the last time I was there. The breakfast special in the photo was from an earlier visit during the week and it was a good value to take the Canal Streetcar line to dine at Betsy's. The special I had was bacon with poached egg, multi-grain toast, potatoes substituted for grits, and coffee. Breakfast always hits the spot and the coffee is strong and flavorful to get diners going and the servers provide efficient service that you get the feeling from being long-time employees. Another diner one table over described Betsy's food and employees' chatter as "good food and a free show." I like Betsy's a lot and will continue to return whenever I'm back in NOLA.

Got breakfast from here one morning while in vacation since it was right by our rental. Was pretty good. We just picked up so I can't really say much else but service was good.

As a food reviewer, I'm excited to share what makes Betsys a must-visit spot.

Betsys Pancake House specializes in offering an array of delicious breakfast plates, omelettes, and those star attractions—the pancakes—while enveloping you in a warm, inviting atmosphere that's both casual and family-friendly. It's no wonder many locals regard it as a legendary breakfast stop. Reviews from patrons highlight the friendly service and the family-owned spirit that permeate the restaurant, making every guest feel right at home.

As you sit down at Betsys, take a moment to soak in the old-school diner vibes. The memories from reviews resonate with my own experience: you’re treated like family here. The staff is attentive and kind, and they genuinely care about giving you a wonderful dining experience. One customer mentioned, "They make you feel like family," and I couldn't agree more. It's a spot where sentimentality meets culinary delight.

On my recent visit, I savored their pancakes—light, fluffy, and almost ethereal—rightly deserving of the restaurant's namesake. Patrons have described them as "amazing," and I assure you, that description hits the mark. However, do keep in mind that some dishes may vary in quality. One reviewer advised skipping the biscuits, describing them as dry, but overall, the consensus remains that the food here is delightful and pocket-friendly.

After discovering this cozy corner of NOLA, it’s clear why Betsys Pancake House continues to thrive. Whether you choose to dine in or grab some takeout, you will leave with a full belly, soft smiles, and perhaps a newfound appreciation for classic American breakfasts.
